I recently had the pleasure of sharing insights about the evolving landscape of legal marketing recruiting with CMO2Go,Inc. founder Erika Steinberg. With two-thirds of firms reporting understaffed marketing and BD teams, it was a timely discussion with industry colleagues Hadleigh Henderson Katz and Eva Wisnik.

Here are some of the key insights I see:

There is a broad range of law firms, and they need different types of professionals. As a legal marketer, it’s important to understand what a firm is looking for and how that aligns with your interests and needs.

Successful placement of CMOs and CBDOs can take up to a year to complete. In all cases, the process should include proper vetting by both the firm and the candidate.

There's exciting potential in cross-industry talent, but it’s very important for
candidates to understand what it means to be working in a law firm.

Law firms have kicked off the year with growth through mergers. As a result, we are seeing lots of opportunities for hiring this year.

I'm optimistic about legal industry hiring in 2025. In an environment of excellence, lawyers look to strong business teams to support their work to meet increasing client demands. The professionals who strive to exceed those expectations are finding themselves in a great position to land the best jobs across the market.
