Our client, an Am Law 100 law firm, is seeking an experienced and innovative Special Counsel to join its eDiscovery team. The successful candidate will possess substantial experience and a strong command of eDiscovery principles, technology, and best practices. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to partners and case teams, providing strategic, technical, and operational leadership in support of complex litigation and investigation matters.

Responsibilities
- Provide strategic counsel and technical guidance on eDiscovery strategy, early case assessment, quality control, and defensibility for technology-assisted review (TAR) and AI-assisted workflows.
- Advise case teams on ESI protocols, data preservation, custodial interviews, collections, and documentation of deliverables.
- Collaborate with attorneys, internal and external case teams, and outside vendors across the entire EDRM lifecycle.
- Implement and integrate emerging technologies, including agentic artificial intelligence, to enhance efficiency, insight generation, and defensibility.
- Serve as an internal ambassador for the firm’s eDiscovery and litigation support services, helping attorneys leverage best-in-class tools and workflows.
- Train and support firm attorneys regarding eDiscovery workflows and industry practices.
- Monitor and track emerging eDiscovery case law.
- Support Litigation Department bids and business development efforts.
- Lead privilege review and logging processes, including oversight of quality control, advanced searches, and analytics to ensure precision and defensibility.
- Evaluate review outcomes, generate actionable metrics, surface key documents, identify data gaps, and support case teams in deposition and trial preparation.
- Contribute to the onboarding, configuration, and quality control of new technologies and workflows.
- Develop and refine privilege log workflows in collaboration with vendors and attorneys.
- Review, draft, and revise ESI protocols consistent with best practices.
- Budget for and monitor eDiscovery costs and address billing or resource issues as needed.
- Analyze search terms, TAR protocols, and privilege log scopes to ensure accuracy, defensibility, and alignment with strategic objectives.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in eDiscovery within an Am Law 200 firm, legal service provider, or consulting firm.
Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in platforms such as OpenText eDiscovery (Axcelerate), Relativity, Brainspace, and other ECA, Review, TAR, and AI platforms.
Analytical Acumen: Deep understanding of TAR methodologies, predictive coding, and metrics related to generative AI in eDiscovery.
Strategic Advisory Skills: Proven ability to counsel partners and case teams on defensible, cost-effective eDiscovery strategies.
Leadership and Collaboration: Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, support business
development efforts, and lead cross-functional teams.
Professional Engagement: Commitment to continuous learning, thought leadership, and participation in industry events, with interest in achieving external recognition such
as a Chambers ranking.

Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and admission to the relevant state bar.
