Our client, an Am Law 100 firm known for its client-first philosophy, is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Business Development with a proven track record in supporting Intellectual Property. This position is based in Dallas and requires four days of in-office work per week.
As a vital member of the firm’s Business Development team, the Senior Manager will collaborate closely with the firm's CMO, Department, Section, and Practice Group management, providing essential strategic and tactical support to all lawyers within these areas. The BD Senior Manager will lead a dynamic team of marketing professionals dedicated to empowering lawyers in all aspects of generating profitable new business from both current and prospective clients.
Responsibilities:
Partner with lawyers to identify and evaluate new business opportunities and targets, facilitating cross-collaboration, participating in client-specific target teams, and supporting sales pipeline maintenance. Proactively counsel lawyers on BD best practices, strategies, and techniques. Ensure the successful integration of lateral partners, with a special focus on target priorities. Stay informed about current developments and trends impacting clients and prospects through proactive market research. Collaborate with the firm’s Competitive Intelligence team to secure actionable insights on market and industry developments. Collaborate with the Public Relations/Media and Social Media teams to secure media exposure and establish a strong social media presence for practice groups and individual lawyers. Manage, counsel, and mentor a dedicated team of marketing professionals supporting designated groups. Supervise all projects, events, RFPs/RFIs, proposals, pitch opportunities, deal tracking, and directory submissions undertaken by team members, ensuring quality assurance on all work products.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred. Minimum of 10 years in marketing, business development, or related fields. Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment is preferred. Exceptional writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. Flexible and organized, capable of managing diverse personalities, multiple demands, and tight deadlines. Strong work ethic coupled with a strong sense of humor. Clear understanding of client service and a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team. Possesses an insatiable intellectual curiosity and a desire to understand the business of each assigned lawyer deeply. Aptitude for effectively managing and mentoring staff, guiding their career progression.
